Five Fantastic Ways To Celebrate St Patrick’s Day In Killarney

Along with the much-anticipated reopening of the Castlerosse Park Resort this weekend, there is also a lot going on in the town of Killarney with a weekend long of St. Patrick’s Day festivities and plenty promised to keep you and all your little mean green machines entertained…...

Killarney Landmarks Go Green
If you are looking to get in the festive spirit for the big day, then taking a visit to see some of Killarney’s best loved landmarks all lit up in green (from the 11th of March) at night-time is a must. Start at the grounds of St. Mary’s Cathedral and then stroll through town to the Church of Ireland and on to the Friary Church and Killarney Court House at the top of the town to take in the magic of their festive green glow.  Additionally, if you want to see something particularly spectacular, take a short drive to Ross Castle, a 15th century old Keep and watch its shimming glow of green glistening across the Lakes of Killarney.

Paddy’s Day Park Run

If you are looking to partake in a bit of exercise before the official festivities commence, then the Paddy’s Day Fun Run in the Killarney National Park is the perfect option for you. Join in the fun on Saturday morning, the 16th of March at 9.30am for an hour-long run around the stunning surroundings of the Park. All participants are invited to go at their own pace and families and buggies are all welcome so on your marks, get set, go and register at www/parkrun.ie/Killarney

The Parade kicks off at 2.00pm on March the 17th and invites you to experience a truly spectacular show so from ringmaster right down to circus clowns, you can expect a dazzling array of entertainment. The festival invites everyone to interpret the theme in whichever way they like so get those face paints and costumes at the ready and come as your favourite circus character. Highlights for this year will also include everyone’s favourite Disney characters, circus workshops and musical entertainment.

Craic Agus Ceol In Killarney’s Pubs

As is tradition all over the country of Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, many people flock to the pubs to sample some of their Irish favourites like a pint of Guinness or a glass of Jameson but more so to experience the good old-fashioned Irish welcome and the craic and ceol that has become synonymous with our culture. Killarney has many a haunt in which one can enjoy the festivities including the Laurels Singing Pub and J.M. Reidy’s, both in the centre of the town, offering live Irish music and of course, great craic for all.
